We won, HOWEVER
Measure A, the 1/2 cent sales tax increase for Santa Clara County went down in flames.
But the people that launched the measure are still flying about.
Beall, Gage, Kniss, and McHugh
Measure A touted accountability and an oversight committee, so in the spirit of accountability, we need to hold the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors accountable for their actions.
Everything was promised with funds coming in from Measure A if it passed. But all along, the Board of Supervisors needed the money just to pay for current programs.
And you thought the money was for new, better, more improved services. Look at the news and the Supervisors now. They are saying we will have to do cuts, so the truth is coming out.
Measure A wasn't for new things. The fiscal ship is sinking and the Captain of the fiscal ship and his lieutenants are promising cocktails.
Isn't it time the Board of Supervisors took responsibility?
And a mute point, what can we do about it? Suppose we were the oversight committee looking at the waste that the Board of Supervisors created. What could we do?
We need to watch the board's actions, But we also need to not re-elect any of the 4 supervisors that sponsored Measure A.
We need to make sure they do not get any other government post where they are in charge of money.
Here are the 4 Santa Clara County Board of Supervisor members that voted to put Measure A on the ballot:
• Chairman of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisor, James T. Beall, Jr., District 4, who is being term-limited out. But he is running for higher office; he is running for State Assembly, District 24 representing South San Jose. He is going to a place that has even more money to blow.
• Supervisor Donald F. Gage - District 1
• Supervisor Liz Kniss - District 5
• Supervisor Pete McHugh - District 3
Beall, Gage, Kniss, and McHugh.... Beall, Gage, Kniss, and McHugh
Remember their names. They never met a dollar that couldn't be spent!
